OCZ Agility 3 240GB SSD

OCZ changed their SSD casing for recent drives and models such as the Agility 3 now use a plastic top section with a sticker which gives the model name. Turning the unit over we find a brushed metal base which extends onto the sides of the drive. In the centre is a sticker, next to the SATA 6Gb/s connector, which on this model tells us the power rating, also listing drive capacity a note that the warranty is void if opened.

OCZ rate their SATA 3 based 240GB Agility 3 at 525MB/s read with write at 500MB/s and this close ratio of read to write is once again down to the SandForce controller and its data management algorithms. This performance is then maintained by TRIM in operating systems such as Windows 7. For IOPS performance OCZ rate the Agility3 at 45,000 on compressible data 4KB Random Write , the read at 35,000). This is a drop of 15,000 and 5,000 over the Vertex 3 however still very competitive in the SSD marketplace. Also worth noting is that this drive uses .3w less power when active than the Vertex 3 which will be appealing to mobile users.

Finally, in terms of extra features we have support for enhanced BCH ECC, NCQ, SMART and SATA-7 Security Erase as well as a reliability specification of 2 million hours and a warranty of 3-years.
