File Copy Tests

For our file copy tests we move batches of files to and from our main OS drive (2x Indilinx SSDs in Raid 0), recoding the time taken for the transfer to complete. The first test uses 41 files totalling 1.01GB, the second is 17 files with a total size of 4.03GB and our final test uses a single 18GB file.

Benchmark Results

The results in this test are quite astounding. When we compare writing 1.01GB of files to the Enyo and Flash Voyager GT we see the OCZ model complete the operation in 7 seconds whereas the GT drive, which is a good quality unit, takes nearly a minute and a half more. As we move up to 4.03GB of data the Enyo performance remains strong in both read and write and by the time we hit 18GB of data the OCZ drive is completing the copy around 10minutes ahead of a mechanical drive for write, nearly 3x faster to read. It should also be taken into account that as the drive fills the performance on the mechanical model would degrade whereas read and write operations always occur at the same speed, regardless of the location used, on a SSD.
