OCZ Vector 150 (240GB) SSD Review

OCZ Vector 150 SSD Review

Starting with the build quality of the Vector 150 there is little we can fault. OCZ continue to use a robust casing for their enthusiast drives, even in this 7mm form factor. The external branding looks nice and the good quality continues inside where we find well respected, branded parts. Yes there are benefits to some alternative drives which use parts from one manufacturer throughout but OCZ’s decision to pick specific items for each area of the drive means they can balance price and performance for the user.

We have long been impressed by OCZs software suite and their Toolbox continues to offer a nice, simple way to manage and maintain our drive. The skin on the application could be nicer but the functionality is fine and the inclusion of drive cloning software helps end users get from an existing install to a new OCZ based one with ease.

That brings us to value and performance. The 120GB Vector 150 will retail at $130, 240GB at $239 and 480GB at $499. Those are competitive prices and when we consider that the 240GB model consistently performed at the high end of our models being tested today it is an easy product to recommend.

So that is OCZ refreshing their Vector range having previously done the same with the Vertex… maybe it is now time for the high end RevoDrives to receive a revision????…
