ProArt B550 Creator: a beautiful Asus motherboard is on the horizon!

This morning we learned that Asus unveiled a new motherboard with a really elegant design. The model in question is none other than the ProArt B550 Creator, with a Thunderblot 4 port on its rear panel. It’s roughly the same design as the competing Asus offering in Gigabyte’s Vision series, but in a very simple way.

With its new model, the brand is thus signing a reference to the most standard ATX format. On the design side, we find a classy and sober reference like the series Vision from Gigabyte. On the other hand, Asus emphasizes black with gold keys on the radiators and the I/O cover.

When it comes to connectors, we have something complete. This model features three PCIe x16 ports and we assume that the last one will work at the 3.0 standard, certainly connected to the B550 chipset. Likewise, the set is completed by two PCIe x1 3.0.

On the storage side, we will have enough to do with four SATA III and two M.2 connectors. Of course, the M.2s benefit from an aluminum heatsink with a minimalist design, just like the rest of the card.

As far as memory is concerned, we find our four DDR4 slots, but the brand does not communicate on the supported frequencies. On the other hand, we can expect it to hold a capacity of 128 GB.

Finally, Asus equips its model with a significant power supply part based on 12+2 power supply phases. And for the CPU, we have a dual EPS12V connection based on an 8-pin connector and a second 4-pin connector.

What is special about this model, will you tell us? Well, you should know that this is the first AM4 model equipped with the Thunderbolt 4. Indeed, on the I/O plate, we have two Thunderbolt 4 Type C ports. This same rear connector also has four USB 3.2 Gen2 Type A and two USB 2.0. The audio part displays five 3.5 mm jacks with an optical S/PDIF output in Realtek ALC1220A. Otherwise, we find a double Ethernet output to as yet unknown controllers, a DisplayPort input and an HDMI output. Finally, a perfect PS/2 combo.

For the moment, the brand hasn’t yet put the data sheet of its card online. For the price, it seems that this model is priced at $299 with an availability for April.
