RTX 30 SUPER already in production?

The latest leak we have on the refresh of the Ampere range concerns an RTX 30 Super series but a priori reserved for laptops. This launch still seems to be scheduled for the beginning of 2022, probably for the CES in Las Vegas. However, this “Super” refresh would also be intended for desktop PCs and it could even arrive earlier for the latter. RTX 30 Refresh

RTX 30 Super: The half-life refresh of the Ampere line.

This step was planned by Nvidia. Recently, the company communicated about its product cycles by explaining that in the future, a refresh of the lines would occur at the half of the commercial life of a family. If this schedule is followed, it simply means that future GeForce RTX 40s will not arrive until Q4 2022 or Q1 2023 at best. According to VideoCardz, the RTX 30 SUPER Refresh series will be part of this second “Ampere Phase 2” life stage. According to their sources, this product family went into production this quarter. If this information is true, it indicates that the products will be on the market for the beginning of the fourth quarter.

RTX 30 Super: what to expect?

The first piece of information that we can classify as definite is that it is still Samsung that will be in charge of producing the GPUs. The process will still be 8nm. The new references will therefore be based mainly on design optimizations, anti-crypto clamping, wider bus interfaces and probably higher VRAM capacities to increase performance. Obviously, on this last point the situation regarding the availability and prices of GDDR6X will be particularly observed. Other rumors mention the arrival of a new Titan or a 3090Ti. For the moment it is too early to go further on these last points, very hypothetical at this time.
