RX 6900 XT LC: a full-fledged model and not just a variant?

RX 6900 XT LC: a full-fledged model and not just a variant?

There some time agoago, we told you that a RADEON RX 6900 XT with an AIO had surfaced. Today, we know more about this famous RX 6900 XT LC thanks to VideoCardz. Indeed, this card would be a full-fledged model in the range of AMD and not a simple variation with another cooling system.

RX 6900 XT LC: an AIO for cooling and higher frequencies!

AMD RX 6900 XT WatercooledFor this card, AMD takes the look of the reference models of its RX 6000 series, but changes the heatsink. Here, no more aircooling and hello watercooling in the form of AIO. Moreover, we find a simple heatsink, in 120 mm with a RADEON logo.

However, what interests us is what AMD will do with it since it is a full-fledged model and not a simple variation of the original model.

Thus, switching to an AIO allows the reds to boost the frequencies of their cards. The latter now clock in at 2250 MHz in Game Boost and 2435 MHz in Boost. To get an idea, a basic 6900 XT is 2015 MHz in Game Boost against 2250 MHz in Boost.

The same goes for the memory, which also benefits from an increase in frequency. This one now runs faster: 18 Gbps on this LC version against 16 Gbps for the aircooling model. All this contributes to an increase in memory bandwidth, which is now 576 GB/s.

On the other hand, the overall increase of these frequencies means that the TBP (Total Board Power) is increasing. It now shows 330W against 300W previously, an increase of 10%. Despite this, AMD continues to offer an auxiliary power supply based on two 8-pin PCIe.

However, the hard blow concerns the availability which seems to be limited to the system integrator according to our colleague. On the other hand, there is always a small glimmer of hope insofar as no official announcement has been made by AMD!
