Smart Access Memory on B450 and X470 However, the AGESA v2 1.1.0.0 firmware which is already in circulation would activate this functionality on the B450 and X470 motherboards. It is only a matter of time before the motherboard manufacturers integrate the firmware with an update of the BIOS for the cards concerned. MSI seems to be the first on the subject since it has published a BIOS Beta capable of activating this technology on its cards as well as the Curve Optimizer ( aka Precision Boost Overdrive activatable with AGESA 1.1.8.0 ). ASrock has done the same with cards featuring the B450 chipset. As a reminder, the use of Smart Access Memory technology brings an interesting gain in performance as you can see below. A few % (often between 2 and 5%) which should not be neglected especially when they cost nothing 😉 If this technology is not “revolutionary” and uses the bandwidth gain provided by PCIe 4.0, it would be ridiculous to do without it if a simple update of its BIOS brings a “free” gain in performance. It will therefore be a few more days before most brands release BIOS with this feature. However, we can only appreciate that the AMD 400 platforms can also continue their life and take advantage of the latest advances in the red camp…a gesture to be welcomed. Share On
