Some A320s and X370s would accept Ryzen 5000

While support for the new Ryzen 5000 has already been added to Asus and Gigabyte B450 card references (beta bios are already available), it seems that a number of A320 and X370 boards could also support Zen 3.

An A320 that runs a Ryzen 9 5900X without any problem

The information has been cross-checked in various forums where users already have access to the BETA BIOS for the A320 and X370 motherboards, which would support all the latest AMD Ryzen 5000 processors. According to a member of Chiphell Forums, AMD 300 series motherboards can support Ryzen 5000 series processors without any problems, and one member even had fun running a Ryzen 9 5900X on an entry-level ASRock A320M-HDV motherboard.

So clearly, it seems that motherboard manufacturers already have the BIOS for the X370 and A320 motherboards in preparation. However, are they really going to release them? Let’s not forget that AMD has officially declared that the Ryzen 5000 Desktop processors will only be supported by the 400 and 500 series motherboards, so it is possible that these bios will remain in Beta or come out “under the hood”.

If these bios end up being published, the capacity of the ROM will have to be taken into account. This is a major limiting factor and will lead to the elimination of support for other generations, a priori essentially Ryzen 1000 processors.

Even though AMD seems to be blocking BIAs, our friends at Wccftech have received several brand confirmations that these BIOSes will be released very soon.

Bios for B450 already available for the Ryzen 5000

At the same time, ahead of AMD’s schedule which announced availability in early 2021, BIOS availability at Gigabyte and ASUS for the AMD Ryzen 5000 Desktop processors is effective. Gigabyte offers BETA support on a total of 16 motherboards based on B450 chipsets, while ASUS offers BETA support on a total of 16 ROG STRIX, PRIME and TUF Gaming products. The Gigabyte BIOS is listed as F60c while ASUS’ BIOS is listed as 8501.
