Spatium Series: three ranges of SSDs from MSI!

Spatium Series: three ranges of SSDs from MSI!

MSI is also getting into SSDs by announcing its Spatium Series. Several ranges are proposed with the M480, M470 and M370. Of course, according to the models, we will have different capacities and speeds!

Spatium Series: M.2 SSD at MSI!

MSI Spatium SeriesYou may have guessed it, but the fastest SSDs are the M480. With these models, the brand offers us units in 500 GB, 1 TB and 2 TB models. Here we are talking about models with a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface in NVMe 1.4. This translates into maximum sequential speeds of 7 GB/s in reading against 6.85 GB/s in writing. We are here on the cream of the cream!

With the M470 models, we go down in speed since MSI announces 5 GB/s in reading and 4.4 GB/s in writing, sequential, of course. Here too, the models are in PCIe 4.0 x4, however, there is a more limited choice in terms of capacity: 1TB and 2TB. These are the two models offered.

With the M370, we go downmarket again with models that lose PCIe 4.0 in favor of a 3.0 interface. Obviously this is felt on the speeds which go to 2.4 GB / s in reading against 1.85 GB / s in writing. Moreover, it is the most provided series as regards capacities. In addition to the 1TB and 2TB models, we can count on 256Gb and 512Gb storage.

Finally, all these models have in common an SLC cache with an LPDC ECC system for error correction. As for endurance, MSI announces 1600 TBW max for its M470 and M370. The M480 will be slightly less enduring with 1400 TBW maximum.

Of course, we don’t know the price yet, but we know that the warranty will be 5 years.

Here are the technical data sheets of MSI!
