SSD Roundup March 2009

SSD Roundup March 2009

For our gaming tests we have taken two approaches to testing these drives. In the first test we have run each through a section of gameplay on World in Conflict. The setting used was 2560×1600 with 4x anti-aliasing and 4x anisotropic filtering. Our second test removes many of the system bottlenecks by running Counter Strike Source at 1024×768 with default settings.

When playing World in Conflict we see that there is little difference in performance between the three drives, each performs very well. Moving to Counter-Strike Source we see that the framerate limitation has an impact on average framerate but the minimum results are varied. The Raptor-X provides the lowest performance with the Super Talent and Patriot once again sitting at a similar level. Finally we have the Intel X25-M again giving us class leading performance.
