SST-AMD: AMD CPUs will no longer stick to the Thermalright vents

SST-AMD: AMD CPUs will no longer stick to the Thermalright vents

As we saw a few days ago, some manufacturers are offering their solution to prevent the AMD CPU from sticking to their heatsinks. This is indeed the case of Gelid and its bracket. However, Thermalright also offers its solution called “SST-AMD” and you will see, it is also quite simple.

SST-AMD: a very simple solution so that the CPU no longer sticks to the ventirad!

During a change of thermal paste for example, the AMD CPU can sometimes remain stuck to the heatsink. A situation that quickly becomes annoying if pins are bent during disassembly. From then on, you go through the straightening stage and sweat a lot. In short, nothing very cheerful.

To avoid this, Thermalright offers its small bracket to be integrated on the mounting system of its heat sinks. Thus, the role of the SST-AMD is to surround the IHS with the CPU in order to keep it anchored in its socket when the ventirad is dismantled.

In terms of compatibility, this accessory is obviously compatible with the CPUs of the AM4, AM3, AM2, FM1 and FM2 sockets. As you can see, we go back quite far in the life of AMD platforms.

For the price, please note that this accessory is referenced at Aliexpress at a rate of 13.55€ excluding promo. At this rate, you should know that the brand provides a syringe of non-conductive TF7 thermal paste. This justifies the important price difference with the solution of Gelid in particular.

Here is the Thermalright data sheet!
