The price of Ram will increase again

Since the end of last year, the memory market (Ram and Vram) has been on the rise. This increase has been more marked in recent weeks.

The main cause is an increasing demand on all segments. For example, some smartphone brands are still aggressively sourcing memory, both Xbox and PlayStation consoles have generated large orders as well. The laptop market also seems to be picking up steam due to the increase in telecommuting. Finally, demand for server DRAM products is expected to accelerate rapidly in the second quarter of 2021.

DRAM contract prices are expected to increase by 13 to 18% in the second quarter

The consumer DRAM market is in a rare situation of a supply shortage and a demand rebound at the same time. This strong rebound came at a time when the industry was migrating its production capabilities to more advanced processes. This situation has repercussions on the price of memory sticks, of course, but all sectors integrating ram chips will be impacted… including the graphics card sector. Ram prix Q2 2021

No improvement in Ram prices in 2021?

Considering the state of demand and the large backlogs at some customers, it seems almost a given that 2021 will continue to be an upward trend for Dram contracts. The evolution of the exchange rate is an element that can either accentuate or moderate the situation for us buyers. Most analysts confirm this trend. Demand for PC DRAM products continues to grow, PC OEMs have increased their annual production targets, and inventories are at an extremely low level.
