The RTX 3080Ti seems really close

As a preamble, please note that this brief is a synthesis of rumors coming from the market and our contacts at the brands about the RTX 3080Ti.

Nvidia Leak RTX 3080Ti

Nvidia Leak

As has been the case since the beginning on this Ampere generation, it would be really unwise to claim that we have any certainty about the RTX 3080Ti snake. However, after many discussions with our contacts at the main manufacturers, it clearly seems that the arrival of the RTX 3080Ti is close. An information that Mydrivers seems to have as well.

An RTX 3080Ti for Spring at $999?

First of all, while there is a (relative) relaxation on the RTX 3060 and 3070, the 3080 and 3090 references are increasingly difficult to find. Concerning the 3080, a major distributor in France confirmed that he has received almost no 3080 since the beginning of the year. For the 3090 the arrivals are rare and the quantities are often counted on the fingers of one hand.

Almost 6 months after the actual launch of Ampere, the arrival of an RTX 3080Ti seems to make sense especially if we remember the words of Collete Kress from Nvidia. She recently stated in an official communication that “starting with the 3060, we are taking an important step to maximize the GeForce GPU offering for gamers”. Since this statement comes at the same time as the announcement of hashrate limiting for Ethereum on the 3060, this seems to more or less clearly announce new cards with Ethereum hashrate limiters to replace the old line. Much of the talk from Asia on the subject is heating up, and again, mid-April is a recurring window of opportunity.

The specifications of the upcoming RTX 3080Ti have changed a lot since the first rumors. It must be said that Nvidia will probably try to deal with the economic reality. The 20Gb announced at the beginning seems less likely to release a card that targets $999/€ (“official” price).
