If Q1 was a clearly identified timing, it now appears that the RTX Mobility launch will take place at the very beginning of next year, certainly in the second half of January. The table already published by wccftech Nvidia switches laptops from RTX 20xx to 30xx The end of the year 2020 will therefore be the period of good deals on RTX 20xxs in laptops. Because, of course, the new versions will not be cheaper and will suffer from the same tensions as their big sisters on desktop PCs. To this situation should be added an overall increase in the price of the slabs but also the cost of freight to bring these new products to Europe. RTX mobility: a new strain on global card production. The other question that arises and that is starting to come to our ears from the brands concerns Nvidia’s priorities. Indeed, the message has been going round and round for several months about the unavailability of Ampere chips. The causes are known: bottlenecks in production, tensions on peripheral components on the boards etc… It seems that the arrival of RTX Mobility cards will further handicap Nvidia’s “classic” card production volumes. The production slots available to Nvidia are therefore now partly reallocated to RTX Mobility. This increases the strain on the RTX 30XX desktop cards. A situation that could also explain the latest information we have shared with you on Nvidia’s upcoming launches. Finally, to be complete, it is likely that AMD will also announce the arrival of its RX 6000 laptops in early January. The beginning of 2021 unfortunately looks set to follow on from the end of 2020.
