The RX 6700 XT is official: better than a GeForce RTX 3070?

If you were with us on the launch Live Twitch, you may have discovered that AMD is positioning its RX 6700 XT as the best 1440p GPU in its class. If we take AMD’s quick 15-minute presentation at face value, the Radeon RX 6700 XT is a direct competitor to the GeForce RTX 3060 Ti but offers performance that rivals even the RTX 3070.

RX 6700XT launch confirmed on March 17

AMD has confirmed that the Radeon RX 6700 XT will be launched in both the custom and reference versions on March 18, while board testing is expected to go live one day earlier on March 17. AMD has of course insisted on the presence of 12Gb on its card.

The best choice for the 1440P ( without RTX and without DLSS ? )

According to the reds, its card works much better than the RTX 2080 SUPER, which should put it on par or even above the RTX 3070 in many titles. AMD has measured the card’s 1440p performance in several AAA game titles such as Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Borderlands 3, COD Black Ops: Cold War, Cyberpunk 2077, Dirt 5 and many others. The 12GB of VRAM will certainly help the card deliver better and stable performance at higher resolutions than its competitors based on the 8GB VRAM. However, our own tests show that on Borderlands 3 in particular, AMD’s official figures would imply that the 6700XT is at the level of its 6800…Bizarre. Obviously, this would set this new reference in an ideal way on the market especially for those who want to upgrade their PC. Availability and price will remain the main indicators. Several customs models have also been announced. We will therefore all wait impatiently and without too many illusions for the arrival in stock of these new references and the real public prices.
