Theoretical release schedule for new graphics cards

Theoretical release schedule for new graphics cards

For the second quarter some new graphics cards seem to be planned by both AMD and Nvidia. We all know now that the RTX 3080Ti will arrive in the second part of May. In reality the real question is not there…

Mystery VGA

New cards or new paper launches?

In addition to the 3080Ti that we have talked about a lot, Nvidia seems to want to maintain the pace with two new references in June. An RTX 3070Ti and a 3060 6GB are scheduled. Regarding the latter, many areas of uncertainty remain. We talk about a dedicated card or a replacement, for marketing reasons, of the card that was initially called 3050Ti.

At AMD we expect an RX 6700 and an RX 6600XT… But again, without conviction or enthusiasm.

Here is an attempt at a projection from the information given by 3Dcenter:

The technology Target Theoretical output
Radeon RX 6600 XT Navi 23, 32 CU at 128 bits, 8 GB GDDR6 mainstream not until May
GeForce RTX 3060 6 GB GA106, 22-26 SM @ 192 bits, 6 GB GDDR6 mainstream not before May
Radeon RX 6700 Navi 22, 32-40 CU @ 192 bits, 6/12 GB GDDR6 Mid-range not before May
GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GA102, 80 SM at 384 bits, 12 GB GDDR6X High end mid-May
GeForce RTX 3070 Ti GA104, 48 MS at 256-bit, 8 GB GDDR6X Mid-range end of May
GeForce RTX 3050 GA107, 16-18 SM at 128-bit, 4 GB GDDR6 mainstream June
NOTE: Hardware data and release dates for these cards are largely based on rumors and assumptions.

New graphics cards: the only issue is availability

The potential arrival of these new cards will only have an impact if availability starts to be restored in the market. Unfortunately, this is more of a wishful thinking than a realistic projection. For both Nvidia and AMD, the year 2021 should remain particularly disrupted according to their latest communications.
