Titan Twin Turbo TTC-SCS88TZ VGA cooler

Titan Twin Turbo TTC-SCS88TZ VGA cooler

The Cooler

The Twin Turbo is a long cooler with two 70mm fans which will cover most of the underside of your VGA card. There are four heatpipes dispersing the heat drawn from the cooler’s base across the many 160mm long aluminum fins. The design of the fans shroud is attractive, but unfortunately it is highly unlikely that it will be visible from a windowed panel as the cooler will be facing downwards.

While the heatsink is big and appears to be capable of cooling even the most power hungry GPU cores, it cannot be mounted on most of today’s most powerful VGA cards such as the Nvidia 8800/9800 series and the ATi 37XX series.

The base of the Twin Turbo is made out of copper and while it is not machined down to a perfect mirror finish, it is smooth. The base of the cooler is very small, as it must not be obstructed by components around the GPU core during installation. There are four thick heatpipes which transfer the heat from the small base to the aluminum fins and while there are many of these fins they are not very thick. Despite that, the Twin Turbo will still block the expansion slot underneath the VGA card.

The installation of the Titan Twin Turbo is made rather difficult since there are no marks or manual supplied for it. We suggest that you should first remove the stock cooler and attach the four stand-offs at the cooler’s base by using the reference cooler as a guide. After attaching the four stand-offs at the cooler’s base then using thermal paste on the core, you place the cooler on the card and the stand-offs through the cooler holes. Afterwards you have to turn the card upside down and screw the retention spring-threads onto the stand-offs. Finally the fans power cable connects into a motherboard 3-pin fan connector as this particular cooler is not powered by the card itself.
