X570 Dark: EVGA’s AMD card is not even $700!

After having talked about it for a long time on the site, the AMD motherboard from EVGA, the X570 Dark, has been launched in due form. Between the teasers of KingPin and lately Dancop sharing scores, it was time for the card to arrive. It is now the case and the price is not even that exaggerated!

X570 Dark: a dedicated Ryzen OC board for less than $700!

Very clearly, this model is intended for a very specific audience since it is primarily aimed at overclockers. Indeed, this model is equipped with a whole range of equipment dedicated to the practice: buttons for an out of case startup, header probelt (contact to measure the voltages from the card), slow mode switch, etc. Not to mention the 17-phase VRMs to power the Ryzen 5000 or 3000 that will be installed on it.

As you can see, the layout of the card is quite particular. The two memory slots (4800 MHz) are located at the top of the board, horizontally. Similarly, the CPU socket has been rotated by 90° compared to usual. Similarly, we notice quite quickly that the power supply connectors are at 90°, ditto for the two EPS12V 8 pins for the processor. Speaking of power supplies, at the bottom of the card, we find a 6-pin PCIe to bring some juice to the PCIe connectors.

While we’re at it, this model comes with two PCIe 4.0 x16 connectors. With two graphics cards, they will work in x8/x8, moreover, the card is SLI compatible. By the way, via a dispwitch present on the circuit, you can activate or deactivate PCIe as you wish.

For the rest, this model offers a total of four SATA connectors and two M.2 in PCIe 4.0 x4.

Now we come to the selling price of this model which is $689.99. Admittedly, we are at the top end of the market since only a handful of cards are more expensive. Nevertheless, considering the market and EVGA’s reputation, we expected worse.
