Patriot use a cardboard box for the outer packaging of their Core i7 compatible DDR3 and we get a nice image of the memory along with a specification sticker. Inside we find the memory protected with plastic and included is an installation guide.

The modules use a black PCB with black aluminium heatspreaders which sit on top of copper plates that can be seen through the gaps. The mix of black, silver and copper looks fantastic and these are clearly the most visually attractive sticks in this roundup.

Attached to one side of the modules is an information sticker which tells us that they are rated for 2000MHz operation at 9-11-9-27 with 1.65v. The kit consists of 3x 4GB modules and to reach the rated speed we will need to play with the multipliers and bus speed on our system. This means a 14x multiplier for memory (1866Mhz normally) with the bus speed raised to 144MHz. This bus speed would of course mean a CPU overclock which we can leave in place, or we can reduce the CPU multiplier to 24x which gives us the stock 990X speed, give or take a few MHz.
