XFX Motherboard Roundup

Budget and micro-ATX products are not generally known for their overclocking potential however the boards being tested today did not do too badly at all.

The 610i/630i motherboards are limited mainly by the inability to select the CPU voltage. On the 610i we were able to raise the multiplier to 10x with full stability but any further change in FSB speed caused crashes. The 630i faired a little better and was able to use the same multiplier with 345MHz FSB which resulted in a speed of 3450MHz for the CPU.

The AM2+ based GeForce 8200 board was a little more flexible as it allows full control of the major voltages and speeds. Using 1.4v on the CPU we were able to take the processor up to 2860MHz with the combination of 13x multiplier and 220MHz Bus.

Board Stock Max Speed Settings Used
610 (S775) 9×333/3.0GHz 3330mhz 10×333
630 (S775) 9×333/3.0GHz 3450mhz 10×345
8200 (AM2+) 12.5×200/2500MHz 2860mhz 13×220 @ 1.4v
